Scholarship  Announcement

New Scholarship started

September 17, 2002 -- Bernard A. Chavis, BTFP president announced that a annual $1,000.00 scholarship has been established in honor of his late mother. The scholarship is named the Estelle Chavis Wingfield  Scholarship. Mr. Chavis stated "This is a fitting recognition to the leading force in my life". As a single parent, Mrs. Chavis Wingfield raised two sons by herself, often going without basic needs to insure that they had a chance to make something of themselves. She embodied the never quit attitude and always said, "No matter what you do, do it to the best of your ability by giving it your best effort."

Chavis also stated that this is a start and he hopes to increase the amount of the scholarship in the coming years.
